I Tried Probiotics for 7 Days: Here’s What Happened

Having had stomach issues for the past year, I’ve been looking for ways to cure my upset stomach. At first, I thought it might be something in my diet causing my bloating and digestive issues. So, I decided to start changing my diet.

I started by first eliminating carbs like bread, rice, and pasta. After a week, I still didn’t notice a difference and felt the same if not worse. Not only did I feel bloated, but I also started to feel constipated.

This led me to begin eliminating meat from my diet the next week. I figured if it wasn’t the gluten that was messing with my stomach, then maybe it might be the extra steak I ordered in my Chipotle bowl.

After a week of no beef or chicken, I started feeling hopeless. I was still feeling bloated, and on top of that, I began feeling lightheaded from not eating a balanced diet.

The cycle continued as I attempted to eliminate more and more foods from my diet. And after a month of trying different diets, I found that I couldn’t isolate a single food that caused my stomach inflammation. Even worse, I started to experience diarrhea.

At this point, I was desperate for possible cures for my ailing gastrointestinal system. Luckily, I talked to a friend who told me about probiotics. They said that after just one week of taking them, their bloating, stomach pain, and digestive system got a lot better.

This gave me hope that my problems could be solved. I immediately went to the vitamin shop and picked up some probiotics. I decided I would do a seven-day experiment to see if they could help alleviate my stomach pain. I was finally beginning to feel optimistic.

Day 1: I Felt Little to No Difference in my Level of Discomfort.

After getting home from the vitamin store, I quickly took the capsule of probiotic and knocked it down with a glass of water. Hours went by and it was time for dinner. I made myself some chicken and rice, which didn’t bother my stomach that much, but I still felt bloated. I tried not to get discouraged about not seeing results, but I couldn’t help but worry.

Day 2: My Symptoms of Bloating and Constipation Started to Worsen.

Day 2: My Symptoms of Bloating and Constipation Started to Worsen.

Having a really busy day ahead of me at work, I was hoping that my probiotic experiment wouldn’t interfere with my productivity. But as it turns out, that wouldn’t be the case.

Around mid-day, after lunch, I began feeling sharp abdominal cramps while experiencing heightened levels of bloating and constipation. This abdominal discomfort made it almost impossible to complete my tasks before the end of the day, but I powered through and somehow managed to get everything done.

At this point, I couldn’t help but feel discouraged. How is that something that’s supposed to be helping me is making it worse? Perplexed as ever, I tried to maintain a positive outlook.

Day 3: The Bloating Subsided, but my Digestion Took a Turn for the Worst. I Started Getting Diarrhea Again, and This Time I Was Starting to Feel Defeated.

Day 3: The Bloating Subsided, but my Digestion Took a Turn for the Worst. I Started Getting Diarrhea Again, and This Time I Was Starting to Feel Defeated.

As I was getting home from work, I started to experience more abdominal cramps. After a while, the pain subsided but I found myself running straight to the toilet. After having a bout of severe diarrhea, I thought that there’s no way that these probiotics are working.

Not only did my symptoms become more intense, but now I was also having more digestive issues than before. After this, I felt like this experiment was destined to fail. I couldn’t help but think that the promise of probiotics was just too good to be true. But I knew I had to continue if I wanted to see the full results.

Day 4: I Surprisingly Felt a Lot Better Than the Day Before. I Still Felt a Little Bloated but was not Having any Digestive Issues.

After the last three days, my optimism was at an all-time low. I was convinced that probiotics couldn’t help my stomach, but something happened around the late afternoon.

As I was finishing the rest of my work, I realized that I didn’t have any stomach pain. I was barely bloated and didn’t feel the urge to use the bathroom. This was the first glimmer of hope in my seven-day journey. At this point, I was beginning to feel like that the first few days were simply my system getting used to the good bacteria in the probiotics. I started to feel like it should be smooth sailing from here.

Day 5: I Started Having Regular Bowel Movements. Constipation and Bloating were Completely Gone. I Began to Feel Like This Could be the Turning Point.

After finally reaching day five, I felt like the last four days of struggling were starting to pay off. Having experienced significant improvements for the last two days, by this point I began to feel like I was turning the corner and finally starting to experience what a normal stomach feels like.

While I knew I was in the home stretch, I tried to not get my hopes up too high. I thought that the last couple of days could be a fluke and that my stomach pain could flare up at any minute.

Yet as the minutes went by, the discomfort didn’t return. I considered this a significant milestone and truly started feeling like these probiotics were starting to improve my life.

Day 6: I Felt Like a New Person. Not Only Were All my Negative Symptoms Gone, but I Also Started to Feel Clear-Headed and Had More Energy.

Day 6: I Felt Like a New Person. Not Only Were All my Negative Symptoms Gone, but I Also Started to Feel Clear-Headed and Had More Energy.

When I woke up on Saturday, I couldn’t help but notice feeling a sense of rejuvenation. I had more energy than usual and felt like I didn’t even need my regular morning cup of coffee to wake up.

Not only did my stomach not hurt, but I felt a level of energy I hadn’t experienced in years leading me to clean my entire apartment and take care of all my errands before 11 am.

If this wasn’t a sign that the probiotics were working, I don’t know what would be. At this point, I couldn’t contain my excitement and felt like I was truly on the road to recovery.

Day 7: I Am in Disbelief. I Still Had the Same Level of Energy as the Day Before and my Stomach was no Longer in Pain. I Felt Like the Experiment Worked and That the Probiotics Saved my Life.

Day 7: I Am in Disbelief. I Still Had the Same Level of Energy as the Day Before and my Stomach was no Longer in Pain. I Felt Like the Experiment Worked and That the Probiotics Saved my Life.

The next morning, I was amazed at how great I was feeling. Having gone through so much pain and discomfort leading up to this point, I couldn’t believe what an incredible effect the probiotics had on my gastrointestinal system.

My stomach pain was still gone, bloating was a thing of the past, and my digestive system was feeling healthy.

After so much time just dealing with bloating, stomach pain, and constipation, I thought that I would just have to manage it for the rest of my life. I was wrong. Probiotics were able to give me back my quality of life.

I was so thankful that I decided to stick with this challenge and take the probiotics for all seven days. While it was tough for the first few days, by day four I started to feel significantly better and am now able to fully enjoy my days without having to deal with the stomach issues that plagued me for so long.

Closing Thoughts

Having dealt with stomach issues for such a long time, I thought that experiencing that discomfort every day was my new reality. After trying out so many diets and still not being able to figure out what was bothering my stomach, I am so glad that I stumbled across probiotics. If it wasn’t for my friend telling me about them, I don’t know how I would be dealing with the issues I was going through before taking probiotics.

Taking probiotics every day for seven days was not easy at first. And by day three I was convinced that this treatment would never work. However, in the end, I realized the probiotics were just doing their job and that my stomach had to get worse before it got better.

After the bad bacteria was flushed out of my system, I quickly began to notice an improvement in my condition. And by day seven, my symptoms were entirely gone. Having experienced this transformation first hand, I can confidently say that probiotics can greatly help you in achieving better gut health. Not only did my stomach start feeling much better, but I also started to experience clearer thinking and higher levels of energy.
